Blush Pink, lace, silver ribbon and sugar roses

Love, love this cake I made last week for Dylan & Alison,

Delivered to Botley's Mansion in Chertsey, it was probably my most challenging cake to date.

I love the roses,  lace, blush pink colour and even some Protea flowers which are the national flower of South Africa.

Alison put so much into the wedding and I could tell when I set up she had though of everything.

Including a last minute change from ivory to the blush pink.

Here were her comments a few days after her wedding...

'Thank you Gem for our amazing wedding cake. Not only did it look amazing, it tasted divine! We had so many compliments on how beautiful the cake was.

Thank you so much for your patience, especially after changing. My mind ono the colour.  Will be contacting you in the not too distand future for birthday cakes. Thank you! Ali & Dylan x

Wedding Cake Maker Surrey... you decide

I love making weddig cakes.... here are 2 pics of the same wedding cake... one pretty in pink and one autumnal orange. Which would you choose.....

I love making wedding cakes.....

This cake was delivered to Hop Farm in Kent for an autumnal themed wedding.

Here is the nicest review ever. Definitely blushing here ......

Gem made us the most beautiful cake for our wedding - we were completely taken aback by it when we saw it for the first time and had so many comments on it throughout our evening reception.

Gem was a pleasure to work with from the initial conversation about what we wanted right through to delivering the cake and beyond. We wanted something a bit unusual for our cake with quite intricate details and Gem just got it straight away!

The cake itself was stunning both in the way it looked and the way it tasted. It was an upside down hanging cake decorated with pumpkins, leaves and vines and looked as though it was defying gravity - we still don't know how she did it! We had lemon curd, raspberry and almond and carrot cake. Each tier tasted unbelievable and the raspberry and almond (tasted like a Bakewell tart) went down a storm with our guests and we had none to take home (glad I managed to eat some on the day!).

We can't recommend Gorgeous Gems Bakery enough!

4 Tier silver leaf & peach cake with piping and peony focal flower

I delivered this wedding cake today to The Conservatory at Painshill Park; another gorgeous venue.

The peony on the top is a handmade wired sugar flower and the silver tier is covered in decadent edible silver leaf.

A bit of piping and some bang on trend ruffles complete the cake.

This one is chocolate on the bottom, lemon, carrot and red velvet on the top. Nom nom.

And relax..... till I start on next week's cakes!

Congratulations to Kelly & Simon. Have a super day x

Ps the flowers were supplied by a relative of the bride.

How to choose your wedding cake?

Hi!

How do you choose a wedding cake????

Some people know exactly what they want.  They have seen a picture and they know it is the ONE.

Other people need a bit of help and the way I do this is to ask for some initial details.

Venue: will give an idea of the sytle of the wedding. Plus I need to know if I can deliver there.  If you're in Scotland that could be tricky for me.

Number of guests: this gives me an idea of size of the cake.  If you are feeding 200 you will definitely need more than 2 tiers!

Themes/Colours:  if anything has been decided then usually this is incorporated into the cake some how.

Anything booked or organised so far: so this could be flowers, invitations, dress etc, you may want to tie these into the cake too.

Budget; Everyone has a different budget and I do my best to get you the most fabulous cake for your money.  Sometimes there are different ways of acheiving a similiar effect.  Also dummy cakes can add tiers without the expense!  My guide prices are on my prices page.

Then really it's about STYLE... These words help me to get a feel for the wedding

Elegant, Classic, Relaxed, Vintage, Pretty, Bold, Pastel, Chic, Bright, Unusual, Colourful, Rustic, Formal, Quirky, Sparkly, Traditional,

There are some common additions to wedding cakes so this can give me some clear likes and dislikes...

Hearts, Flowers - sugar or fresh, Petals, Ruffles, Frills, Diamante, Ribbon, Butterflies, Lace

Finally I ask about any specific requirments...

Flavours: what you like and don't like. Fruit cake is a little more expensive (but worth it in my opinion!). The most popular are victoria sponge, lemon or chocolate.  See my flavours page for more info.

Shape of cake: Round, Square, Heart, Hexagon, Castle shaped!

Dietary Requirements: Gluten free, nuts etc.  A nice touch is to do a mini cake or cupcake gluten free if you only have one or two guest with this need.

Time of wedding:  So I know how early I need to get to the venue.

And that's it.  From that I should get an idea of what you like.  I sometimes look on pinterest for ideas and then come up with some kind of a design. Usually by asking these questions people get their own idea of what they want and start to visualise it which is great.

If you want a quick telephone call to discuss YOUR wedding cake, please do get in touch!
